The whiteboard feature is a great tool for collaboration or featuring media. Each table in conversation mode has its very own whiteboard. The Presentation mode also has its own whiteboard that speakers can collaborate on in front of an audience.

Here's everything you need to know about the Miro whiteboard on Remo:

Opening the Whiteboard

To open the whiteboard:

1. Click the 'More' button in the bottom menu toolbar

2. Click 'Whiteboard'

If you open up the whiteboard, and you find a message like below, please check out this quick article to see how to solve this

Functions in the Miro Whiteboard

You can access all the functions on the Whiteboard from the menu on the left-hand side

For a list of the various functionality available, please check out this article

Locking Elements on your Whiteboard

As the Board Owner, you can lock specific elements on the whiteboard that you don't want people to be able to move around:

1. Click on the element

2. Click the Lock icon in the toolbar that appears on top

To unlock the element:

1. Click on the element

2. Click and hold where it says 'Long press to unlock'

Please note the Board Owner refers to the first person who saves the whiteboard to their Miro account (please see the section below on Saving your whiteboard). In order to lock elements, you must have a Miro account.

If you are an Event Host who needs to be Board Owner but cannot become (as someone else is already the Board Owner), check out this quick article for a solution.

Saving your Whiteboard

To save the contents of your whiteboard for longer than 24 hours you will need to sign up for a Miro Account.

To do this, click the 'Sign up to save' button at the top of your whiteboard, and follow the on-screen instructions to create an account with Miro

If you already have a Miro account and are logged in, click 'Save to my boards' to save the whiteboard.

Please note, if you do not save the board, the contents will automatically erase within 24 hours. So, if you'd like to save the content for more than 24 hours, you need to create a Miro account first (please see Step 4 above).

Only one person can save the contents of the whiteboard to their Miro account (in other words, saved to the Miro account of whoever clicked to save the board). This person who saves the whiteboard first also becomes the Board Owner.

So as an Event Host, please make sure to save the contents of your whiteboard before your event starts (if you would like it to remain for more than 24 hours and/or you would like to be the Board Owner).

Exporting your Whiteboard

If you would like to export the contents of your whiteboard to your own device, you will also need a Miro account and be logged in.

Once you have created your Miro account, follow the directions below to export:

Please note, only the board owner can export the whiteboard contents (in other words the first person to save the board to their Miro account)

To export as an image:

  • Select all the elements you'd like to export
Hold SHIFT down as you select each item, or if you would like to export the entire whiteboard select 'CTRL+A' on Windows or 'CMD+A' on Mac to select all the elements on your whiteboard.
  • Click the 3 dots from the element's toolbar, and select 'Create frame'
  • Select the entire frame and click the 3 dots from the frame's toolbar, and select 'Export as image'. Select the image size you'd like and then click 'Export', the image file should then download straight to your device.

To export as a PDF:

  • Select all the elements you'd like to export into one page of your PDF
Hold SHIFT down as you select each item, or if you would like to export the entire whiteboard select 'CTRL+A' on Windows or 'CMD+A' on Mac to select all the elements on your whiteboard.
  • Click the 3 dots from the element's toolbar, and select 'Create frame'
  • Repeat the above two steps for all the rest of the pages of your desired PDF export
You must create multiple frames to be able to export into a PDF. Each frame will act as one page of your exported PDF.
  • Select all the frames you would like to export and click the 3 dots from the toolbar, and select 'Export as PDF'. Select the PDF size you'd like and then click 'Export', the PDF file should then download straight to your device.

Enjoy all the collaborative capabilities! ✨
