Lock Tables are now officially available in Remo!
That's right - Remo Event Hosts can now lock tables for private conversations and team workshops!!
Before we dive into how you can lock tables, let's cover a few of the need-to-know basics when it comes to this feature.

What are locked tables?
Event Hosts can now lock a table in Remo to prevent other users from joining the table. This allows for a variety of use cases from wanting a private conversation (without fear of someone dropping in randomly) to hosting a workshop or training (where you have fixed groups).
We have two types of lock tables available in-event:
- Lock Table: This prevents other guests from joining a table that is locked
- Lock Movement: Available only when a table is locked, this option prevents guests currently at a locked table from leaving the table.

How do locked tables work?
Locking a Table
(For when you want to stop guests from entering a particular table)
1. Hover over the table you want to lock and click the 3 vertical dots in the upper right corner of the table (or right-click on the table)
2. Select 'Lock Table'
In order to lock a table, there must be at least one user present at the table (this can be yourself)
3. You should then see a success message letting you know the table has been locked successfully.
4. To show a table is locked, it will have a lock emoji added to the beginning of the table name, and will show locked table when another user hovers over it.
5. If a guest tries to join a table that is locked, they will see an error message that the table is currently locked.
Unlocking a Table
(For when you want guests to be able to join a locked table)
1. Hover over the table you want to unlock and click the 3 vertical dots in the upper right corner of the table
2. Select 'Unlock Table'
3. Once unlocked, you should see a success message letting you know the table is unlocked and guests can now join. As the table is now unlocked, the lock emoji will also be removed from the table name.
Please note, when all users leave a locked table, the table will unlock automatically.
If you want to unlock all tables at once, on your bottom menu toolbar you can also click on 'More' > 'Unlock all tables'
(For when you want to stop users from leaving a particular table and prevent other users from joining it)
1. Hover over the table you want guests to be locked into and click the 3 vertical dots in the upper right corner of the table (or right-click on the table).
2. Select 'Table Settings'
3. Toggle Lock Tables to ON
In order to lock movement, the table must be locked (to prevent other users from entering as well)
If you don't want to use the quick lock as shown above, this is another way you can lock a table
4. Now, you can check the box for 'Lock Movement'
5. Click 'Submit' to save your changes (otherwise the changes won't take effect in your event). If you have changed your mind, you can click 'Cancel' to discard your changes.
6. Once successful, you should see a success message that the table has been locked and guests currently inside will not be able to leave.
7. If a guest currently locked into that table tries to leave, they will see an error message informing them they are unable to move at this time.

Frequently Asked Questions
- Who can lock tables?
Currently, only Event Hosts (Account Owner, Event Managers, Event Assistants) are able to lock/unlock a table or lock movement.
- If I am at a table that is locked, and I refresh, will I rejoin the locked table?
If you are a guest, when rejoining the event (after a refresh) you will be placed at the next available table according to Remo's algorithm. If you want to rejoin your locked table, you will need to inform the host to unlock the table so you can join.
If you are an event host, when rejoining the event (after a refresh) you will be able to rejoin the locked table (provided there is still an empty place for you.
- What happens if I use the shuffle guests and lock tables feature together?
Any guests currently locked into a table will not leave their table even during a shuffle.
When a shuffle is taking place, Remo will avoid (as best it can) placing users at a table that is locked.
- If all tables are locked, what happens when someone tries to join?
If all tables are locked in an event space, new guests will not be able to join your event until a table becomes unlocked and a seat becomes available.
- How can I change the table name now?
You can change the table name by hovering over a table and clicking the 3 vertical dots in the upper right corner of your table and selecting 'Table Settings'. From there, you'll be able to change the table name as usual. You can check out this article for more information.
- My locked table automatically unlocked, I didn’t unlock it though?
Please remember, as soon as all users on a table have left, the table will automatically unlock.
